It wasn't an extremely productive weekend, but I did get a bit done. In addition to actually knitting, I got a couple of great books from the library. I checked out No Idle Hands, The Social History of American Knitting (Anne L. Macdonald), which I'm enjoying a lot, so far. I've hit a landmark with the vest. I finally got to the front neck and armhole shaping. Whee! As much as I like fair isle, I was really starting to get to the stagnant plateau stage, so this is a great referesher. It doesn't hurt that I got to put a total of 64 stitches (that's over 2 pattern repeats) on scrap yarn ( Read more... )

I thought I was on a knitting roll yesterday. With the fair isle vest, I felt like I was achieving that state where the rows go more quickly than physically possible, given how much more time each stitch takes. What a slow weekend for knitting. Between the heat, the mosquito bites, and the unexpected visitors, I got a lot less done than I thought I would. (I mean, who wants to touch wool when it's 85 degrees out, extremely humid, and you're covered with mosquito bites that are covered with sticky cream? Blech ( Read more... )

So, I worked more on socks than I anticipated this weekend. As one would expect, that means that I got less done on R.I.B. than I hoped. I did bind off the middle stitches for the neck, and work the remaining neck shaping over the next 10 rows. Now I have an inch or so before I can finish off the front.
